100% pure aromatherapy grade tsubaki (Camellia Japonica) oil.
Do not confuse this with blended grades containing other oils or non-Japonica strains like Camellia oleifera or sinensis based oils.
This oil has a multitude of purposes. It is widely used in Japan to condition hair, skin and nails. It is also a traditional natural preservative for wood and weapons.
These qualities mean that it is well tolerated by those with allergies and it will not go rancid.
This makes it a great treatment for softening shibari ropes as an ethical and more hygienic alternative to bayu (horse oil) or mink oil.

So Useful!
Let’s start with the easy part: AN ACTUAL SOURCE FOR REAL TSUBAKI OIL AT A REASONABLE PRICE! Tsubaki oil is a very handy general purpose light oil, especially for applications where you want to be more traditional. It hasn’t yet been used on my ropes (but that won’t be much longer) but it has already seen use on my knives and I couldn’t be happier!
