Here are some answers to questions I get asked a lot:
Is your packaging discrete?
All orders are sent out in plain heavy-duty padded mailing envelopes, except for larger ones which might be boxed. The company name is not shown on the outside of the packaging. Where a customs form (CN22) is required goods are described suitably vaguely as 'craft supplies' and/or 'instructional DVDs'.
What about import duty and tax?
Since the UK is no longer in the EU, you are now likely to have to pay local sales tax and, possibly, an administrative charge. As the rules are now under the control of your local customs and excise, which vary in each of the member states, you will need to check how this affects your order.
Most countries have duty free allowances for personal purchases. For example, for the US, I understand that if the value of internet purchases is less than $800.00, generally the products are administratively exempt from duty or entry requirements. However, as duty free allowances are subject to change and each state appears to have its own sales tax regime, please confirm this information if correct.
Don't assume you will have extra to pay. Take a look at local regulations, you might be pleasantly surprised.
How fast do you ship?
Yes, I know you want it yesterday because you can't wait to use it! However, we process most orders within one day or two working days. Bear in mind that there wil be time differences, so the order that you sent during business hours on Friday might arrive on the weekend here.
Wet treated rope is sometimes a bit slower to ship as it is processed in small batches. The first stage of the drying process is weather dependent and the UK is famous for its weather. If we have bad weather, it will often cause delays of a few days.
Due to travel commitments, shibari events or holidays, there might be the odd time when we don't manage it. We are a small company and can't afford hordes of back-up staff but we always do our best.
How do you ship?
All orders are shipped by either 1st Class Recorded Mail in the UK and by Airmail or, for higher value orders, Airsure. This is normally 2-7 working days but some countries might take longer, so it is best to check the average times quoted by Royal Mail and compare that with user experience on forums.
Where do you ship?
We ship anywhere! We have numerous customers in the UK, Europe, USA, Australia, New Zealand and around the world, even some in Japan and Azerbaijan! Shipping is from our base in London but we also have resellers in many countries.
What about delays and non-delivery?
Sometimes there are hold-ups beyond our control, e.g. customs, adverse weather, delivery errors. You can help by double checking that your address is entered exactly as on post/zip code databases.
Remember that the postman won't always leave a notification card if you were out, so don't forget to check with the local delivery office before you worry that your order got lost. All packages are clearly addressed and securely packed so non-delivery is rare.
How come your prices are so low?
I sell a lot so I can buy large quantities at the best prices, my overheads are low and good prices keep customers coming back. A lot of my customers are repeats who just keep buying more. If you have any doubts about the quality, ask around, put a post on Fetlife and you'll get glowing feedback.

I'm still confused
Feel free to use the contact form and I’ll do my best to help.
Is your rope rated or load tested?
Manufacturers tend not to quote load ratings for natural fibre rope since shorter natural fibres are not as predictable as monofilament synthetics used in climbing ropes etc.. Natural fibre can be affected by the type and age of plant, harvest conditions, treatment, rot, pests, wear and other factors, so accurate measurements are not possible. For legal reasons, I can only advise you to used rated equipment for safety critical applications and cannot endorse any of the rope on sale here for suspension of live loads.
I have done some experiments on breaking strain using natural fibre ropes. The results are sobering as it is very easy to generate forces of over 250% of the weight of the load.
Do you do custom orders?
Yes! We can supply any length you need. If there's something special you are after, let me know and I will see what we can do.
